I went on the ride, for one day, in May 2017.
It was meaningful and epic being part of something far bigger than one person, even as each person makes the whole.
Somewhere in Missouri, a group of children were handing out rocks to the riders.  They spent much time painting the rocks red, white, and blue.  Mine was red with blue swirls.
This is the poem that came through me.
    Salute to all,
    Sky Westerlund

    Etched Deep

    Motorcycles roaring
    worn leather jackets
    patches and pins
    doo-rags and helmets
    rings and fingerless gloves
    tough guys aren’t so tough
    riding for those who cannot

    run, run for the wall
    live, live for the ride
    here, here for the lost
    run, run for the wall

never again, no one left behind
    still coming home
they were 18, 19, or 20, and now
    65, 70, or 75
    hand to their heart
    riding for those who cannot

    run, run for the wall
    live, live for the ride
    here, here for the lost
    run, run for the wall

kickstands up early, into the wind
    through deserts, mountains
    plains and valleys
    cities and small towns
Saluted by children waving the flag
“this is for you” a rock painted red, white, and blue
    riding for those who cannot

    run, run for the wall
    live, live for the ride
    here, here for the lost
    run, run for the wall

As far as one can see
a couple thousand, two by two
heading east to The Wall in DC
    the black granite headstone
fifty eight thousand three hundred twenty
    hallowed ground to remember
old soldiers on a new mission
    riding for those who cannot

    run, run for the wall
    live, live for the ride
    here, here for the lost
    run, run for the wall

    welcome, welcome home
    welcome, welcome home
    welcome, welcome home
    welcome old soldier
