Hey there Brothers and Sisters. A couple years ago I lost a dear friend and riding buddy. His name is Kirby. Kirby’s Widow gifted me a brand new trailer. It had been boxed when Kirby passed but she had it unboxed and assembled by a friend of hers. I’ve had it in my garage with the intent of getting a hitch and taking it with me on the run. Last year, I went all the way as an FNG without a trailer and have after having made the run without one, don’t intend to ever take one with me.
I’d like to gift the trailer to whomever needs one and is able to come get it, or figure out how to have it picked up and shipped to you. Here’s the kicker though. You’ll have to do a little bit of legwork to get it properly licensed. Because the trailer was unboxed and the shipping paperwork lost, I can’t prove it came from a certified manufacturer. Thus the trailer must be inspected by a law enforcement agency for safety before you can have it licensed. Here in Washington State, the process isn’t hard, but it’s a little tedious.
You have to go to a licensing office and get a temporary permit to tow it to the inspection. Once you have a valid inspection you have to go back to the licensing office and get your plates. And… because there is no paper trail, you’ll be given a conditional plate which is valid as long as someone doesn’t report the trailer as stolen.
I assure you, the trailer isn’t stolen and nobody will report it as such. If you are willing to go to the trouble to get it licensed, the trailer is your at no cost. I need it out of my garage.
Here are some photos I took, the night it was given to me. It’s not been outside in the rain this whole time. 🙂 Just a day or two before I picked it up.
The images were working when I posted. I’m posting them again here. Please let me know if you have any issues. Note: the black is factory gel coating, ready for paint. You could just run it as is, but you might want to have it painted.
