FYI. For those of you that have newer Harley’s with the Cruise control on the left and the CB on the right. Harley has a fix to swap sides if you want. It takes about 10 minutes thru there computer.

      Smokestack:

I called our local HD dealership and they know nothing … did you get this info from corporate or a dealer near you?

      Thank you!

Harley came out with the swap about a month ago. Initially they had a few problems with some bikes not accepting the swap, mine included. Yesterday I went to the dealer and it worked. They just do it thru there computer. It was very simple. I believe there tech bulletin is TT460 witch explains how to do it. Mine was done at Arrowhead Harley Davidson in Phoenix.

I had my 2016 CVO changed about two weeks ago. Have had no issues. The New Calibration ID is 40800137 and the Module Type is ECM.  HD will tell you that you need new switch caps.  Apparently they want you to replace the black ones with grey ones so that they know the switch has been done. However, these switches can be pulled off and pushed back on the new location

If you buy the switches, HD will charge you $27.95 for them. The actual download mut be done by a HD mechanic and I believe goes through the master connection under the left side cover behind the hard bag. Labor is about half an hour. So the cost depends on what your dealer charges for labor rates.

Your local dealer can get the info directly from the HD Tech Line. For more info, check the Harley Davidson Forum.

Thanks smokestack for the info, I just went to my dealer and he had never heard of it but once I gave him the TT number he looked it up and ordered the part for me about $25.00. He was very pleased to hear about it, so thanks again for the info

There shouldn’t be any parts Involved. You just pull the buttons off and reverse them. Everything else is done thru the computer.

HD will try and sell you new switches which are grey. They want you to have these so that they know the software has been changed. You don’t need them. The old switches can be easily swapped.

Wildcat had hers switched and they installed the gray switches.  Local Service Manager said only thing he can figure is MOCO wanted a way to identify that the switch function had been modified.  When I got my new Road Glide, they did the button swap and just swapped the black switches. Had mine changed last Thursday on my 16 Road Glide COV Ultra at HD of Scottsdale. They also did not know about it at first; however, they looked it up and did it for half an hour labor charge, and just switched my current control switches.

I use the CB a lot when I Escort Military Funerals for the AZ PGR. Took a little bit to remember the change.

I am liking the CB now on the left side!

Oh, make sure the software is up to date.  When I left the dealer the cruise switch worked fine.  When Chicken Joe and I went to visit the vets at the VA hospital in Houston the CB push to talk did NOT work.  The soft ware was not updated.  It took them a couple of hours to figure this.  My bad for not having the software up to date.

Oh, and I kept the switch buttons where they were.  I can’t read them anyway.

I had mine done at Republic Harley-Davidson in Stafford, TX last week while the bike was in for service.  No charge! And just swapped my buttons for me, no new gray ones etc.
