Go to the “Contact” link here on the website, and where it says “who should this go to?”   select “RFTW 2021 – Registration Revisions”.   Give whatever revisions or updates in that email contact, and we’ll get your registration changed.

Wicked & I heartily agree with  your post about this documentary.   We watched it a few weeks ago.    It is a phenomenal story of the history of not only Doc Westphal and the family, but also about the war itself, which many parts were new to me as a civilian.   It is so worth watching.

Mike,    When we’re close to opening, we will announce the 2021 pre-registration on both Facebook and the website.     Concerning the Sandbox Route, we’re working with Bugs, the Route Coordinator, on the process of carrying this forward, as well.    This will be announced, too, in all forms.    Thank you for  your patience.  I know that we’re all eager to forge ahead.

Yes, the driver(s) of your support vehicle has to register.   See the FAQ section under Run Info on the website, regarding where vehicles have to be in relation to the pack.     The basic policy is that you’ll see them in the morning, at the lunch stop & in the evening at our final destination, but not at fuel stops during the day.

It takes years for a route to grow to the size you’re mentioning.    Midway Route is not even this large, and they’ve been going for quite a few years.    And no one wants a brand new route with 350 to 400 riders—none of which know the roads, logistics or anything.     We’re still learning & ironing out the logistical problems that were discovered & experienced from last year’s recon.    Each year, the number of riders will gradually be expanded.   Safety is our primary concern.   We hope you’ll try for next year.

Pre-registered rider numbers are manually done—it is not automatic.    We are working on other registration issues right now.   Don’t worry—the registrations are coming in.      The numbers will eventually be updated & kept up to date later.   Thanks.

    Tony,

We have close to 90 trikes & spiders ,with or without trailers, plus the bikes w/trailers.   Needless to say, we will have numerous platoons.   All the leaderships have been diligently working on the issue of time at the fuel stops for the ever growing trike/spyder platoons.   We will do our best to get everyone fueled & have a short (albeit sometimes very short) break.    See you soon!

For clarification for the new riders—

Some RFTW riders go on their own down to Rolling Thunder (or the Pentagon parking lot) instead of riding as part of the RFTW group that leaves the host hotel parking lot.    To be in that group that rides together from the hotel, you must be a registered RFTW rider.    Plain and simple.     To confirm what was already earlier, RFTW is NOT part of Rolling Thunder– we only ride in the event, along with many other groups or organizations.

EXCELLENT TIP ABOUT PRACTICING BRAKING HARD.   Please take that tip seriously…you will not regret it, FNG’s.   Just as soon as you get comfortable with the structure and smoothness of our maneuvering on the roads & highways—it will inevitably happen that a car will do what they want & cause an abrupt braking incident.   It WILL happen.   Be ready for it.

Oh man, Pop.   Wish I could give Hobbit the biggest hug ever.   I know for a fact that she’s got the strength of a lion in getting through this.    But that doesn’t mean there won’t be tough times–as you and she already know.   Like Ziptie, we can’t wait to see her in May and hug her in person.   You be sure to tell her that we’re all here for her and will do anything to make the Run better for her.   Give her our love.
