<p style=”text-align: left;”>You will probably get all the range you will need from the short little whip on the radio itself.</p>
You only really need to hear/talk with your Platoon and the one in front and behind you.
What position did you volunteer for that needs a radio?

Someone else emaild me that the online purchase option has been retired. I will buy in Ontario.

Individually, know your limits and be prepared to ‘tap out’ if the WX gets to be too challenging. Catch up when you can at a stop.

Pack like you’re walking into the hotel with helmet in one hand and everything else in the other hand.
Don’t Pack like you’re on a around-the-world-solo trip.
Pack like you’re on a day ride not far from home.

Have you tested the functionality of the CB as it is? I have the J&M in-fairing antenna on my 14 Limited and it is quite serviceable for bike-to-bike comms with a small group.
For longer range when I ride with my trunk I have the HD short CB antenna in its original position on the trunk and can easily talk from tail-gunner position to platoon leader position and can mostly hear the leaders of other platoons.
If the antenna you have fails, then a better coax from the radio to a simple antenna mounted on the trunk, and grounded well to the base of the trunk should work well enough.
CB on a motorcycle is never going to reach out as well as a car system, just no ground plane. So you kinda have to manage your expectations against your needs and go from there. If you are in a position on the Run where you need a CB then it makes sense to get something working as good as you can afford. If you just want to listen (talking on CB by non-leadership is frowned upon) then your in-fairing antenna might be enough. Test it.
