Leaving Corydon to Ontario Noon Thursday May 9th.

We camp so generally we pull into a campground each day about an hour before Dark.

Weather permitting we are going through Denver, over the Continental Divide and across Utah.

Sunday night May 12th we plan to stay in Las Vegas at one of the casino hotels. Last night on the road so its nice to get a good meal and a night’s rest inside.

Planning to arrive in Ontario about noon Monday May 13th.

Hope to see you along the route and you’re absolutely welcome to form up with us.

The Leadership uses CB on The Run. Anybody can monitor the Freq but Transmitting is for Leadership only. I’ve never run into anybody wanting to communicate with other riders on The Run and frankly doing so would be a dangerous distraction.

My 1st ATW I carried a 2m/440 rig thinking I might work it at night from camp but I carried it ATW coast to coast and never found time to work it at all. Too busy all day, Too tired at night. I would be interested in participating if somebody wanted to set up a rig in the evenings to work a “Special Event” station.

Hope you have a great RFTW-2019.

Reconmilt,  Good suggestions! Especially loading the heavy items low and lighter up higher. Weight distribution is extremely important! The RFTW requires every type of riding from 2 wide “Parade” mode to Interstate stretches with some winding mountain roads along the way. Proper Total Weight, Load Distribution and Tire Pressures are critical.

Laundry Service Available at Corydon Overnight

Recenty “Bones” asked about the possibility of the Coin Laundry by the Motels staying open later than normal so the Riders could do some laundry. I spoke with the Operator and she is very willing to stay open and said she would remain there as late as needed if one of us was there doing Laundry.

Beyond this, she mentioned that they have “Drop Off” service and if any Riders want to drop some laundry they will process it for $1.00/pound. She said there are some up-charges for Hanging or Folding, etc. I asked her if somebody dropped of a dozen separate batches from Riders, could they pick them up later that evening after supper and she said “absolutely”.

Let me know if you would be interested in Laundry Services.

    CYa soon!

I’ve camped at the church several years and staying through the Monday Holiday has never been a problem. Sister Theresa has always welcomed me like I belong there as she does anybody that walks in. They run a daily meals program for the locals so I’d bet you could camp there any night of the year and be welcome. Just a great bunch of folks!

    Dang It !!!

Gonna miss a great ride. It’s going to be 75 & sunny ATW this year.

Sorry you’ve had to take a break this year but please do everything you can to to get ready for 2018. I’m only doing Missouri east this year but planning for an ATW 2018 God willing.

    Take Care !

    Sloke,

Thanks for your comment. Look forward to meeting you on RFTW-2017.

I have the best position with RFTW of anybody. I have a great State Coordinator, OZ to keep me straight and the Corydon / Harrison County community has a number of people that work so hard to show their appreciation to our Veterans.

When we give out the awards at the Fish Fry, please give the people and groups recognized a round of applause.

VAFISH,  Sorry for the delayed response. I wanted to talk to a friend that knows the camping around Southern Indiana pretty well before I responded.

If you are wanting to stay close to Evansville, slip south across the Ohio River on Hwy 41 through Henderson Ky to John James Audubon State Park.

Part of the way to Corydon from Evansville, right off I-64 is Yellow Banks Recreation Center. It gets great reviews.

A little farther east towards Corydon, just south of I-64 in Perry County Indiana are (2) really nice Lake Campgrounds, Indian-Celina Recreation Area and Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area. Both are really nice.

    Hope this helps.

After getting Pops message I found the local Scout Leader and the Boy Scouts will be doing a Bike Wash at the Fairgrounds during the Fish Fry Supper.

Thanks Pops for mentioning this, I passed along your appreciation to the Scouts.

    Thanks Pops !

I’ll pass that along. A little encouragement ( and a few bucks in the Tip Jar) goes a long ways.
