I have already email Tammy this.

It is with great sadness that I will not be able to attend the run next year. Unfortunately that means Tammy needs to find a new back seat. She is registered for the Central route.

Might be due to the electric assist assembly but it’s shaft not servomechanism. You can’t even have a pure hydraulic steering system on the highway due to if a hose burst you loose all steering. Also why vehicles that have rear steering assist lockout over a certain speed.

Anywho, I think we all beat the slingshot topic like a dead horse.

1700 lbs and not steer by wire. Steer by wire is not legal on the road. Fully mechanical steering with electronic assist.

I quoted the reasoning for not including slingshots.

    Polaris Slingshot overall width 77.6″

    Spyder width 61.9″

    Harley Tri Glide width 55″

    Goldwing trike average width 54″

    Honda Accord width 73.3″

Slingshot is wider than a honda accord.

We’re not talking about length footprint, it’s width footprint that’s an issue. Now if you decide to pull a regular trailer that is over 70″ wide do expect issues. Motorcycle trailers are narrow with the can am freedom trailer only being 45″ wide.

They’re pretty much all laid out the same with bike & trailers, then trike & trailers in the back.

Yes, that is what my combination will be. Trailer platoon.

This was this years platoon layout for the Southern Route.

There’s a platoon just for bikes & trailers, trikes & trailers, and a can-am platoon for us spyer lovers.

From what I understand in the back.

Here’s a quote from an email I got back asking about trike and trailer fuel stops

Now for the question on fuel stops, yes, there’s a consistent problem with the trike & trailer platoons having enough time to stretch, etc. . All routes are working hard at solving this growing problem. There will be times when you will have very little time to stretch—so be prepared, ok? I know that’s of little comfort right now, but the Route Coordinators are well aware of this issue & are working at lengthening the fuel stops for you all.

    **sorry messed up the quote

Run for the Wall’s Official Policy on Polaris Slingshot’s is that these vehicles are the size of and essentially a “small car”. You are welcome to participate in Run for the Wall, however, you must ride/drive behind the Last Man Vehicle, or ahead of the Run for the Wall Pack. You CAN NOT ride/drive this vehicle in the Trike Platoon(s) or into Arlington National Cemetery with FNG’s.
NOTE: This policy does not pertain to motorcycles with sidecars. Motorcycles with sidecars ride with the Trike platoon(s).

What do you mean by reverse trikes? I ride a Spyder and I’m told it’s fine but according to the faq section the Polaris Slingshot would have to ride behind since it’s as wide as a car.

Way ahead of you. I’ve been talking to Tammy and the helmet she last wore was to big so I’m going to order her one size smaller, a medium with my comm system installed and have it dropped shipped to her to try out. If it fits I’ll send her a package label to send me the helmet and I’ll put it on a mannequin head to break it in.

As far as the missing man formation, I’m not sure if I’d be able to ride in it since I’m a trike pulling a trailer.

I’ve offered Tammy my backseat on my spyder. Been in contact through email.

I will not be heartbroken if Tammy takes another bike.
