Back in February, when I answered the post, the Run had not yet been cancelled.   And the registration database was still active & open.   That’s how I was able to derive the numbers.   I just now saw that I had a typo in my original message.   I meant to say that the number of participants is NOT slowing down…!

Take care & see you in 2022.

If I didn’t already have a roommate (  🙂  ), I’d take you up on it, Judy!    I know you’ll be a great roommate.    Hope you find someone.   Think I’ll stick with Wicked….   🙂

As one of the State Coordinators on Southern Route, I can attest to everything that Harry stated.    Our hands are tied more than riders realize when it comes to the number of rooms we can block.   But, no need to re-hash what Harry said.    What I DO want to emphasize is this—-there is no need to stress out if you don’t get into the host hotel.    It’s not like anything special goes on once we all arrive to them.   Years ago, when the SR & CR’s were smaller, and we were all younger, there would be several riders who would gather around outside someone’s room and “chill” during the evening, staying up to 10 p.m. or later, & talking about all manner of things.   But, you know what?   We’re all older now, and the only thing 99% of us are thinking is getting to the room, taking a shower & hitting the hay for some well-needed sleep.   Plus, so many of the riders have GPS or Google Maps that help find whatever hotel they’re at.   We coordinators try to keep the hotels/motels very close to each other BECAUSE we want to eliminate that stressful time from the riders—especially the FNG’s.    So, please don’t think that you’re missing out on something if you’re not at the host hotel.    You would be surprised at how many of the long-time leadership riders do NOT stay at the host hotels.   Quick check-ins & a quieter hotel truly pays off, even if it’s a couple of miles away (if that much).     Just my 2 cents!
