Hi guys, I live in Huntington Beach and plan on heading back to California early Sunday morning. Want to be home by Thursday.  Not sure if I’m going I-70 or possibly picking up I40 in Knoxville. Open to either way at the moment. I’m leading Platoon 5 on the CR, my contact info is there.

    Thanks for the tip Dennis.

Starting in 2016, I’ve been writing a daily blog with photos and video on the Central route.

I plan on doing it again this year also. If you have friends or family that might be interested in following along, please have them send me an email at [email protected] and I’ll be sure to send them an invite to the blog.  They will get an email notification as each new blog post is uploaded.  Here’s last years blog if you’re interested.

Praying the Lord will guide the doc and medical staff to bring their skill to bear on your surgery. You are making a a difficult but correct choice. Have peace about that.

    MoultonRR,

The significant difference in the 30K vas the 20s EVO is the Mesh Network on the 30K.

if you ride with more than 4 riders often and all are on 30K units, it may be a good fit for you. As riders come in and out of range they reconnect automatically. Sena refers to this as “self healing”. Also, the 30K’s voice commands are awesome. When paired to my iPhone and if I have a music app open, I simply say, Hello Sena…  Music. and the music starts.  Repeat that and the music will shut off. Here’s one of the many Youtube videos produced by Sena.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-XU63AzBos

Check out the link here and look at the features of each of their bluetooth products.

    CanyonDVM,

All I wear is Klim gear, have a closet full of it because my body is worth it. It’s never let me down and their warrantee is about second to none. I’ve been riding in 5 hour down pours and have stayed bone dry. Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions. This year I’ll be using the Klim Carlsbad jacket and pants. Armor, Gore-Tex and venting. If it starts raining, just close the vents and you’re gonna stay dry.

Here’s just one reason why I buy Klim gear.

I second using Federal.  Have used them twice with excellent service.  You can usually arrange drop off and delivery with a dealer. They are usually happy to help. I have a BMW and dropped my bike off, the shipper picked up a couple of days later and the receiving dealer got it and called me when it arrived.  I’ve heard the Harley dealers will do the same.

    Hi Chucksterwv,

First off, nice bike. Also, I’m not affiliated with Sena or BMW Riverside in a formal way. To answer your questions, yes Sena makes 2 helmets with bluetooth built in, a shorty “Cavalry” helmet and their just released “Momentum” helmet. I’ve actually been demoing their new Momentum helmet and so far so good. Since helmets are such an important part of your safety gear on a bike, and head sizes and shapes vary, fit is one of the most important aspects to consider when selecting a helmet. I prefer a modular helmet when on the road and the Schuberth C3Pro is my helmet of choice. I’ve installed a Sena 30K bluetooth comm unit which is their latest model. From my perspective, Sena is the most progressive company out there in the area of motorcycle communications and I think they make the best units available. I do know that they are always striving to be innovations and continually have new products and features in development.  To find out exactly what BMW Riverside will have available please call Darren at the above number.  If you are happy with your helmet, a Sena bluetooth can be installed in it.  Let me know if  you have any other questions I can help with.
