Doug is right on the money as to your concerns as to where the pack will be stopping each day , for fuel, lunch dinner, schools, V.A.’s & memorials.

Your routes daily itinerary will be posted on the forum soon. ( Midway is already posted.) When your route is posted, print it out, so you have a hard copy & can jot down any notes you want, plus you can study it and get an idea of what your plans are for that day. ( Drive in front or back of the pack) I have had heard feedback from others were in the same situation as you. They preferred to be ahead of the pack. That way they could watch them come into the stops, plus they could get up on an overpass with the other patriots that stand up there and watch the pack come thru, then they get back in their car, pass the pack and greet them coming into the next stop.

A word of caution though, as things change, ( weather, road conditions, venue, etc.) Leadership may have to “tweek” that days itinerary, so it is important to be at the daily briefings for all riders that takes place every morning. Being in a cage you will have plenty of time to leave the area before the pack does. I know all this sounds like a lot to process at this time, but believe me, just like an FNG bike rider, after a couple of days, your confidence will be increased tremendously.

WELCOME TO THE RUN, & the greatest family you never knew you had. Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster, ( it happens to ALL of us, unannounced, unexpected and a lot of the time unexplained) & lots & lots of hugs …… from complete strangers . ( But they are only friends you had not met yet.)

Welcome Home & Welcome to the Run.

Just Google “Pinlock anti fog shield”, you will get a bunch of links explaining how it works, installation, plus vendors, and you tube videos on installation & use.

    Rhino,

If you have an online registration, you are good for now.

That being said, YES, you will need to check in at registration & will need to provide some documentation.

You will need, in hand when you check in: Proof of current registration and insurance for the bike you are riding on the Run, and yes, they check to make sure the VIN on those documents match each other and match the info you provided when you registered online. You will also need a current drivers license with a motorcycle endorsement, if your state requires an endorsement. It is also a good idea to have a copy of the email you received confirming your online registration.

After those docs are checked you sign stuff & receive your riders packet & further instructions from the registration team.

I hope this helps ! If not clear, just ask more questions….it’s all good.

Welcome Home Rhino, Welcome to the Run, Thank You for your service & Welcome to the greatest family you never knew you had.

2020 items are beginning to show up on the online store…yippee…in time for Christmas too.

One question though: The Blue short sleeve shirt-on the back panel-the Pledge of Allegiance does NOT have the words,”Under God” !!!! Has someone, for some reason, censored those two words from the Pledge??????

While I’m at it, another question ! Are there going to be any “static cling” RFTW items offered?

( Other than “Decals” which are an entirely different product.)

Everyone has a method of handling their fuel stop money that they are comfortable with.

    Her is mine:

I roll a ten a five and four ones into a roll and put a newspaper rubber band around it. I have one roll for each fuel stop. I place three rolls for the days ride in my vest pocket for the day. One roll is placed in an outside right hand vest pocket before departing for the next fuel stop. As we are working our way to the fuel pumps, I pull out the right pocket roll, pull the rubber band off with my teeth,( they are bio-degradable), unroll the bills and clip them to a small cargo clip on my dash. After fueling I count out the cost , stuff the left over cash into my pocket, which is transferred to an inside pocket to be used as “bling” money later on, and proceed to staging. Once staged I move another roll into the outside pocket to be ready for the next fuel stop. ( If the fuel stop is a “donated” fuel stop, then the original roll stays where it is for the next stop) I have a roll for each fuel stop for going ATW pre-rolled. I store all those rolls in a “donated” Tampon travel bag,(I figure a bad guy may not want to steal a Tampon bag.)

I have never used all of my fuel stop cash, so, I have some rolls that been in that state of preservation for five years. ( I save them for the next years Run as an incentive to start saving as soon as I get home from the Run)

Just my two cents worth thrown in here…..

    Hi Tex,

Welcome to Midway. The leg you are referring to is exactly what you describe. UNPREDICABLE to a point. We are at altitude, every year it is a little chilly in the morning when we stage in Flagstaff. I dress in layers, by the 1st fuel stop I am usually thinning my attire. I don’t mind getting wet, but getting wet and being cold is a big distraction, sometimes unavoidable though. Just be prepared as much as you can. I hope this kinda helps, a little. I’m sure others will chime in here.
