All I have to say is; “SEND MORE FNG’S” Continue the Mission! We ride for those who can’t!

My FNG year last year was awesome yet overwhelming; so much information to absorb, so much to learn and so much to pass on. Yet, all so important. Once you have done ATW, you’re hooked. trust me if you have a heart in your chest you will want every veteran and non veteran alike to be part of this mission.

    Just saying…..Tech Dog

Rubber band rubber band man yeah! Trust these words you have been given. Leave that brake alone as much as possible. Gage your speed and watch at least three bikes or four bikes ahead. Trust me, once you master the technique of friction zone and throttle control plus gearing down you will have more enjoyment on the journey.

Get out and practice. Make sure to get some serious road time in before you get to crazy California. Just saying

Welcome Home Dan and Zoe! You have some awesome advice from the best. You are going to have an experience you will never forget and it will touch your soul to its core plus test you personally. I am still in awe over my FNG year last year. I am glad I made it an ATW year as well. My experience has been that just like in the military travel with the essential. I packed way too much last year. Since the Southern Route stops where I live I’m taking a lite load this year and if I need something I’ll buy it on the way.

A basic tool kit, first aid kit and a qt of oil along with a bike cover and security system goes in one saddle bag. My daily clothes goes in zip lock gallon or two gallon bags with the air removed to save on space and Toliet kit I put that in my trunk. The other saddle bag carries gloves scarfs, Neck gatters, hat, chaps and stuff for road protection oh and a light jacket. I will have a small ice cooler for water and snacks. Finally for things like electronics and journal’s or important docs I’ll have an assault pack on my back. I also have a tank bag to hold small loose items like lip balm and sunscreen. Benji cords and things I need easy access to. I’m trying to travel as lite as practical since I’ll not return home for almost a month. Keep in mind if you are on the Southern Route it gets very hot in the open high Desert typically 115 in Phoenix. The Permian basin accross Texas is flat wide open Prarie heat. Be careful and hydrate hydrate hydrate. God Speed see you in Ontario!

    Hi Robert,

I rode a 2006 Road King last year from Las Cruces to Ontario and then took the Southern Route ATW then of course back to Las Cruces. I had a brand new set of Dunlop D402s put on before the long trek. I am just now getting ready to replace just the back tire and will probably do both front and rear just to be safe. I have over 8,000 miles on them. A lot depends on your riding, care and maintenance of the tires. Just as the 1st Sarge says, it’s all dependent on what you want and how much you can afford. I find the D402 reliable…just saying.

    Kegkaiser,

Welcome home brother!!! What everyone is saying is spot on. Just do the ride. There will be sooooo much to take in, it’s unbelievable. There will be plenty of opportunity for you to take part in some pretty awesome and significant parts of the ride.

2016 was my  All the Way FNG year and I can tell you I am still absorbing the experiences.

Again, welcome; have you determined if you are taking the Southern, Central or Midway route?

Southern Route Rocks! Central is as original as they get and always remember the Midway, the new kids on the block.

MoJo, Thank you for filling in for this most important spot. I’m on the advance team this year. Yippee!! So excited…anyways, if you need someone to fill in you know I will be more than happy to step up to the plate. FNGs come first as always, but if there is a gap that needs filled, let me know.
